The ʻEnehana Project opens technology and innovation pathways for high school students across Maui County — from Hāna to Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi.
ʻenehana (noun) — technology, in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi.
The ʻEnehana Project brings Maui County's students together to grow technology literacy, confidence, and connection to the people and resources rooted in our community.
How it works →
A team-based AI & technology experience designed to be accessible to beginners while rewarding deeper technical skill.
Multidisciplinary teams of 2–4 students design, build, and present an original project around a local challenge theme — from disaster preparedness to cultural preservation.
Students work alongside technologists from industry, the University of Hawaiʻi system, and the local nonprofit community — connections they wouldn't otherwise make.
Standout teams present their work publicly at the Maui County Fair, putting student innovation in front of the whole community — including a People's Choice vote.
Pre-event workshops cover design thinking, AI fundamentals, and responsible technology — so every student leaves more fluent in the tools shaping their world.
Built on the strengths already here — diverse schools, STEM clubs, robotics programs, and a community ready to invest in its young people.

Whether you build, teach, mentor, or invest — the ʻEnehana Project grows with the people who show up for it.
